CapCut Pricing (2026): Is CapCut Free? Pro Price, Plans and Watermark Rules
Is CapCut free, and how much is CapCut Pro? The current Pro price, what the free plan includes on mobile, desktop and web, when CapCut adds a watermark, and whether it is still available in the US.
CapCut is free to use, and CapCut Pro costs $19.99 a month or $179.99 a year. The free plan covers most basic editing and usually exports without a watermark. You need Pro for auto captions, motion tracking, 4K and 60 fps exports on desktop, and any Pro effect, template or song.
This guide covers every current plan, what the free version includes on each device, when the watermark appears, and how to cancel. Prices were checked on capcut.com and the US App Store on November 5, 2026. CapCut changes its prices often and sets them by country, so always check the price shown at checkout.
CapCut plans and prices
| Plan | Price (US) | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | Basic editing, free effects and music, exports up to 1080p on desktop |
| Standard | $9.99 a month (App Store) | A cheaper plan with fewer Pro features |
| Pro | $19.99 a month or $179.99 a year | All Pro effects, templates and music, auto captions, 4K and 60 fps, 1,200 AI credits, 1 TB cloud storage |
| Ultra and Teams | Varies by region | Higher tiers for heavy AI use, and plans for teams |
The Pro price comes from CapCut's own Standard vs Pro page. The US App Store listing shows in-app purchases from $7.99 to $19.99 a month and an $89.99 yearly plan, but it does not say which plan each price belongs to. The pricing page on capcut.com shows prices in your local currency, so it may not match the US figures above.
CapCut Pro price history
CapCut Pro used to be much cheaper. Before 2026 it cost about $10 a month, and Newsweek reported the annual plan at about $77. In February 2026, CapCut raised monthly Pro to $19.99 and annual Pro to $179.99, roughly double. Existing annual subscribers moved to the new price at renewal. In April 2026, CapCut announced the cheaper Standard plan and raised Pro's allowances to 1,200 AI credits and 1 TB of cloud storage.
Is CapCut free? What the free plan includes
Yes. You can download CapCut, edit and export without paying. The free plan includes cutting, splitting, speed changes, text, transitions, filters and the free part of the music and effects library. What changed in the last two years is how much sits behind Pro:
- Auto captions are Pro-only. CapCut's own comparison lists the auto caption generator as a Pro feature.
- Motion tracking is Pro-only.
- 4K and 60 fps exports are locked on desktop for free users.
- Pro effects, templates, songs and AI tools are marked with a Pro tag. Using any of them triggers the upgrade prompt at export.
- Free cloud storage ended in August 2024. Projects on the free plan are saved on your device.
Free plan on mobile, desktop and web
- Mobile (iPhone and Android): most free exports have no watermark. Videos longer than 15 minutes trigger the Pro prompt. The limit varies by region. If you export anyway, the video gets a CapCut watermark.
- Desktop (Windows and Mac): free exports up to 1080p at 30 fps. The 4K and 60 fps options are greyed out until you upgrade.
- Web (capcut.com): works like desktop. A video that uses Pro materials can't be exported without a watermark unless you pay, at any resolution.
When CapCut adds a watermark, and how to avoid it
CapCut's help center says most free exports have no watermark. A watermark appears in these cases:
- A template adds an ending clip. Many templates end with a short CapCut outro. Delete that last clip in the timeline before you export.
- The default ending is turned on. Some versions of the app add an ending to new projects. Check the app settings and turn it off.
- You used a Pro item. One Pro effect, transition, sticker, font or song is enough. CapCut highlights Pro items when you export. Replace them with free ones, or upgrade.
- A mobile export is over 15 minutes. Split the video into shorter parts, or export from desktop.
- A stock asset requires attribution. Swap it for one that doesn't.
Third-party "watermark remover" apps blur or crop the logo and lower the quality of your video. If none of the steps above work, it's better to switch to an editor that doesn't add one. Our free Short.now Video Editor runs in your browser and never adds a watermark. Our list of CapCut alternatives shows which apps export without a watermark on their free plans.
Is CapCut still available in the US?
Yes. CapCut was removed from US app stores on January 19, 2025, along with TikTok, and returned in February 2025. In January 2026, TikTok's new US joint venture said its safeguards "also cover CapCut". As of November 2026, the US App Store still lists ByteDance as CapCut's publisher. Outside the US, CapCut has been unavailable in India since 2020.
Is CapCut Pro worth it?
- Worth it if you edit several videos a week in CapCut, rely on its templates and effects, and need auto captions or 4K exports.
- Try Standard first if you mainly want Pro effects and don't use many AI features.
- Probably not worth it if you only need simple cuts, music and text. Free editors such as VN Video Editor, Adobe Premiere mobile and DaVinci Resolve export in 4K with no watermark. On a computer, our free Short.now Video Editor covers cuts, text, captions, effects and transitions in the browser, with no watermark and no account. See our comparison of CapCut alternatives.
If you use CapCut to cut Shorts from long videos
Many creators pay for CapCut Pro for one repeated job: cutting a long YouTube video or podcast into vertical clips with captions. That job doesn't need a full editor. Short.now's free AI clipping takes a long video and finds the best moments. It reframes each one to 9:16, following whoever is speaking, and adds animated captions. The free plan gives you 3 videos to start, then 1 every week, with 720p exports, no watermark and no credit card.
How to cancel CapCut Pro
- Bought in the iPhone app: open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and cancel CapCut.
- Bought on Android: open Google Play, tap your profile, then Payments and subscriptions, then Subscriptions, and cancel CapCut.
- Bought on capcut.com: sign in, open your account settings, and cancel the subscription there.
Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription. Before you cancel, export any finished videos and download the files stored in CapCut's cloud. CapCut projects can't be opened in other editors.
Paste a YouTube link into Short.now and get vertical clips with speaker tracking and animated captions. 3 videos to start, then 1 every week. No watermark, no credit card.
