Instagram Caption Generator

Describe what your post or Reel shows and get 8 captions at a time, each with a strong first line, a question or call to action and a few relevant hashtags. Writing for TikTok? Switch the platform in the form.

Describe your post

What you type is sent to our AI model to write the ideas. We don’t store it.

Your ideas will show up here. Fill in the form and press Generate.

How to use the caption generator

  1. Describe the post

Say what is in the photo or video and why you are posting it: "Before and after of my balcony garden, six months of work, mostly from seeds".

  2. Choose Instagram or TikTok

Captions are written for the platform you pick. Both get a hook up top and a short set of hashtags at the end.

  3. Set the tone and language

Fun for casual posts, emotional for personal stories, professional for brands. Choose the language your audience reads.

  4. Copy, then make it yours

Pick the caption closest to your voice and change a word or two. A detail only you know (a name, a number, a place) makes any caption better.

The structure of a caption that gets read

Every caption the generator writes follows the same three parts. Use the structure when you edit.

1. The first line

Only the start of the caption shows before "more": about 125 characters on Instagram, per Sendible (April 2026). Make that line a reason to tap: a result, a surprise, a question.

2. The body

One to three short sentences of context: the story, the tip, the detail behind the image. Line breaks make it easier to read on a phone.

3. The ending

A question that is easy to answer ("Which one would you keep?") or a clear action ("Save this for your next trip"), then a few relevant hashtags.

Caption tips for Instagram and TikTok

  • Do not repeat the image. "A sunset at the beach" adds nothing the photo does not. Say what the viewer cannot see: where, why, what happened next.
  • Ask one question. A simple question invites comments. "Thoughts?" is weaker than "Would you try this at home?"
  • Use fewer, better hashtags. With Instagram capping posts at five, pick ones that describe the post exactly instead of broad tags like #instagood.
  • Put keywords in the words, too. People search Instagram and TikTok by topic. Naming the dish, the place or the skill in plain words helps the right viewers find the post.
  • Match the hook in the video. For Reels and TikToks, the caption backs up the first seconds of the video. Our guide to video hooks covers how to open strong.
  • Keep a swipe file. When a caption does well, save it. Rewrite its structure for your next post.
